SocialDevCamp, and oh yeah, LAUNCH!
I guess first off, I should say I forgot to write a post about the fact that WE LAUNCHED THE SITE! I guess I was so caught up in it all that I forgot to post. It was my first major Rails app, my first major launch and was really only mildly traumatic. So, go check it out. We’re in soft beta, which means, no invite-only, but really not a lot of users and information yet. So, go generate some content for us!
Secondly, I attended SocialDevCamp last Saturday, which was organized by my friend Dave Troy of www.twittervision.com and www.openlocation.org. It was my first BarCamp, and I had some suspicions coming in. Like, “How was I to participate when lurking is discouraged?” That was easy, I found I had at least one interesting comment for each discussion. I even proposed a session that got some great attendance, “Amtrak Tech,” or “How we’re all dealing with startups in the North East.” It was some great discussion and I met a fantastic group of people.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t also mention the after party location, Brewer’s Art. If you’re ever in Baltimore, check that bar out. Awesome Belgian-style beers! But bring a Designated Driver, because man do they pack a punch!
